People plan well in advance, sometimes, about where they’ll be seeing fireworks on the fourth of July.  Local evening news and newspapers will list locations.  Hollywood Bowl or Newport Harbor.  For the past several years I’ve gone to Aya’s rooftop, seven floors up.  A 360 view of fireworks from the valley to Dodger Stadium, downtown, the South Bay & the westside.

The first time we walked out to the fire escape, and climbed a thin metal ladder on the side of the building– seven floors up.  Shortly after we lamely watched people casually trickle from the staircase.

I showed V the ladder we climbed and how high it is.  He looked down, as far as he possibly could in the dark, lit up by sporadic fireworks and Hollywood lights.  “My balls hurt,”  he said.
