Chair

That was the chair he sat in.  Every single day, after work, smoking Pall Malls and drinking Fanta, he sat before dinner to unwind.  Talk to him before the chair ritual and you were given one look, no words, that would turn you around and make you suddenly busy with something you had to do suddenly.  Just leave him alone for these ten minutes, that was the only real rule.
