Since about a decade ago when cell phones and email and the internet gained not only increasing popularity but a human dependence– she being one of those attached to her gadgets, unable to miss a phone call, let an email sit– she could’ve lost clients.  They would go to someone else– and then how would she be able to pay for David’s Bar Mitzvah at the Skybar?  It was a backlash against modern technology when she brought back the antiquated practice of eating breakfast each morning– coffee, juice, eggs, even bacon.  Butter was lavishly used.
